Installing Close Coupled Pump to Motor | Video
This video deals with the installation of an MP Pumps pump pak to an electric NEMA C-faced motor. The procedure followed and techniques used do apply to engine or pedestal units.
Centrifugal pumps use centrifugal force to move fluid. This is done by spinning an impeller rapidly inside a casing. When fluid is introduced into the casing, it is moved rapidly to the impeller vane, where it exits a suction port. The fluid, once outside the casing, exits a discharge port, where velocity received by the impeller is transfered to pressure.
Close-coupled centrifugal pumps differ from regular pumps in that they do not require coupling alignment. This is because a C-face or JM motor is bolted directly to the pump. An adapter bracket acts as a spacer between the pump's seal cavity and motor bearings.
