Fuel Transfer Pumps

Fuel Transfer Pumps come in a wide variety of types, sizes & flowrates. The most popular fuel transfer pumps are portable 12 Volt or 115 Volt Fuel Pumps and Fuel Pump / Meter combinations that fit into standard 2" tank bung threads. These fuel pumps require the use of a suction pipe that is cut off near the bottom of the tank and screws into the pump inlet on the bottom of the pump. These fuel pumps usually include a 3/4" or 1" discharge hose and fuel nozzle and are commonly used to fuel trucks, tractors, construction equipment and many other engine-driven machines. Most of these portable fuel transfer pumps provide flowrates of 10 to 30 GPM. Dultmeier Sales offers fuel transfer pumps like these from Fillrite and GPI:

Centrifugal Pumps for Fuel Transfer

Another type of fuel transfer pump is a centrifugal pump that is constructed of materials that are compatible with fuels including the pump seal. These pumps can be self-priming or straight centrifugal, depending upon the need. Oftentimes, the electric motors used on the centrifugal fuel transfer pumps are "explosion-proof", especially when used to transfer gasoline. These pumps come in sizes from 1-1/2" ports to 6" or larger ports and flowrates from 30 GPM to over 1,000 GPM. Dultmeier Sales offers centrifugal fuel transfer pumps from Gorman-Rupp and MP Flomax. The Roto-prime pump from Gorman-Rupp is a high quality and unique centrifugal transfer pump for refined fuels that will evacuate the air from a dry suction pipe as it pulls fuels to it (self-priming). The Roto-prime pump has a small vane pump built inside it which performs the air evacuation.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Equipment

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a new additive for diesel fuel that can be used on trucks manufactured in 2010 or later. Pumps using this additive are different than standard fuel transfer pumps. DEF transfer pumps should be constructed of stainless steel and so should the pipe fittings. Hoses should also be designed for DEF along with special filters for DEF.
